My Thoughts
Living in a city with environmental issues and witnessing community projects tackling them inspired me to connect all such projects worldwide with the resources and funding the need to flourish.
While looking for insight through visits to remote villages in Indonesia, I encountered a community of women farmers commercially cultivating spices in biodegradable polybags in their own backyards. This represented a major shift from traditional agricultural deforestation and “slash and burn” methods—a destructive practice where farmers would burn down land to be able to farm on it.
Surprisingly, despite the project being self-sufficient, it struggled to replicate beyond local boundaries, due to a lack of funding, visibility, and expert knowledge. This initiative marks an unsettling trend around the world. Countless other environmentally-focused community projects need support to grow; however, limited global visibility, lack of trust, and an absence of affordable monitoring systems hinder donors around the world from giving.
Seeing all of this, my vision is first and foremost to prevent these blockades from getting in the way of changemakers and their goals. I’ve recognised the power and potential of emerging technologies to overcome this problem. Therefore, I created EarthPledge, harnessing blockchain and AI to unite visibility, trustability, and affordability in one complete package.

In the past three years, my focus has been on conducting research on blockchain technologies essential for creating a comprehensive solution that connects donors and projects. This research, which has recently concluded, forms the cornerstone of the EarthPledge initiative. I am enthusiastic about sharing this knowledge through publications in reputable scientific journals.
My primary research paper explores blockchain energy consumption and performance, while the second explores the economics and dynamics of gas pricing within blockchain transactions. These studies have provided valuable insights into selecting the optimal protocol for EarthPledge and fine-tuning its operations for maximum efficiency.
Beyond my research pursuits, I am actively exploring innovative solutions to tackle the challenges associated with the cost of onsite project verification, particularly beneficial for monitoring projects in remote areas. Leveraging Artificial Intelligence and computer vision technologies, I am developing a tool capable of identifying activities and progress from smartphone-captured video inputs for EarthPledge. This tool aims to recognize various activities and changes in objects within the videos, such as tree growth, by comparing footage from different time frames.
To share my knowledge, I founded and led a Web3 Society at UWCSEA, dedicated to discussing and exploring the risks and potentials of Web3 technologies, including blockchain. Additionally, I led the Artificial Intelligence Society, with a focus on fostering the development and utilization of Artificial Intelligence through knowledge sharing, peer education, and leadership within the AI community.
